Start with what the screen says

The message your phone shows after dialing is the starting point. The table sums up what we saw in our own tests and what carriers publish. No message is guaranteed to look and mean the same on every phone and carrier, and a rejection can have more than one cause, so if the first fix doesn't help, move on to the next row. In every code on this page, replace 0501234567 with the number you want calls forwarded to.

What the message means and what to do
On the screenWhat it meansWhat to do
"Invalid MMI code" The phone or network didn't understand the code, usually a single star where two are needed, or a missing character Dial **61*0501234567# with two stars at the start
One line saying call forwarding when unanswered can't be set (in Hebrew: ״לא ניתן להגדיר רישום… הפניית שיחות כשאין מענה״) In our Cellcom test: the code was fine and no-answer forwarding was switched off on the line. That's the cause we found, not necessarily the only one Ask your carrier to check that call forwarding when unanswered is enabled on your line (at Cellcom it's called ״עקוב אחריי כשאין מענה״), then dial the code again
Six lines: voice, data, fax, SMS and more Per our notes: the request went out without a service type, and the network rejected every service type together Try adding *11 (voice calls only): **61*0501234567*11#
In Hebrew: ״המנוי חסום ליעד המבוקש״ (roughly: the subscriber is blocked from the requested destination) Your plan blocks forwarding to that destination; we saw this on a kosher line Ask your carrier whether your plan allows forwarding to that number
"Forwarding activated", yet calls don't arrive Registration worked, but something along the way didn't: a wrong number, a plan restriction, or another forwarding rule taking priority Check what's registered with *#61# and make a real test call from another phone (details below)

Why "always" works but "when unanswered" doesn't

Call forwarding isn't one service. "When unanswered", "when busy", "when unreachable" and "always" are separate conditions, and on some lines no-answer forwarding is switched off. That's what we saw when registering codes on a Cellcom line on 17.8.2026: **67* (busy) and **21* (always) registered immediately, while **61* was rejected, even without a ring timer. After the line owner dialed *3123 and asked to enable ״עקוב אחריי כשאין מענה״ (follow me when unanswered), the exact same code registered without trouble, timer included.

So if "always" works and "when unanswered" doesn't, the problem probably isn't a typo. Before trying more variations of the code, ask your carrier whether no-answer forwarding is enabled on your line.

What the carriers publish

Pelephone

According to Pelephone's call forwarding support page (in Hebrew, checked 15.9.2026):

Call forwarding on Pelephone, per the official support page
Forward whenActivateCancel
Unanswered*61*0501234567##61#
Busy*67*0501234567##67#
Unreachable*62*0501234567##62#
Always*21*0501234567##21#

On the same page Pelephone says you can join the service by dialing *300, and that calls can't be forwarded to a phone that is abroad. Pelephone customer service (in Hebrew): *166 from a Pelephone phone, or 1-800-050-166 from any phone in Israel.

Cellcom

Cellcom's "follow me" service page (in Hebrew) lists **61*0501234567# for forwarding when unanswered. If it's rejected with a one-line error, it may be the case described above: in our test the service opened after dialing *3123 and asking to enable follow-me when unanswered.

HOT Mobile

We couldn't find an official page we were able to read. In our field tests on a HOT Mobile line, the single-star code (*61*) returned "invalid MMI code", and the double-star code (**61*) registered and worked. On the HOT Mobile lines connected through our service, every forwarding condition was open by default, so there was no need to call the carrier.

Partner

According to Partner's website (in Hebrew), customer service is at *054 from a Partner line or 1-800-800-054 from any phone. If the code is rejected with a one-line error, ask them to check that call forwarding when unanswered is enabled on your line.

019 Mobile

According to 019 Mobile's website (in Hebrew), customer service is at 1-800-019-019.

Rami Levy

In our test on 13.8.2026, the Rami Levy network didn't pass on the identity of the line the call was forwarded from. A service that needs to know which number was called, such as Onimli, needs a different setup there, so our Rami Levy customers get a personal answering number.

Golan Telecom, We4G and other carriers

We couldn't verify an official support page from these carriers on this topic, so we won't list service numbers here. Start with the standard codes (**61*, **67*, **62*). If you get a one-line error, contact the carrier's customer service and ask them to check that call forwarding when unanswered is enabled.

Three separate codes beat one code for everything

There's a code that tries to register every forwarding condition at once. The problem: if one condition is switched off on your line, the network rejects the whole request and you end up with no forwarding at all. So register each condition separately: **61* for unanswered, **67* for busy, **62* for unreachable. The open conditions register immediately, only the closed one returns an error, and you know exactly what to ask your carrier for.

How to confirm it really works

  1. Check what's registered: dial *#61#. If supported, the network shows the number your unanswered calls go to.
  2. Set how long it rings: you can add a ring time at the end of the code, for example **61*0501234567**15# for 15 seconds. If the service is open but the timed code is rejected, register without the timer first.
  3. Make a real test call: call your line from another phone and don't answer. Only a call that actually arrives proves forwarding works; an "activated" message on its own doesn't.

If you're connecting Onimli

This is one of the places where connecting a Hebrew AI answering service can get stuck: the code is typed correctly, but the service is switched off on the line. At the end of Onimli's signup you get the forwarding code with your personal destination number, and activation completes only after a test call proves the call really arrives. If the code is rejected, the table at the top of this page shows what to try based on the message. On carriers that don't pass on the forwarding line's identity, such as Rami Levy, you can add a personal answering number for ₪20/month (see pricing). The full process is in How it works.

Quick answers

Why does "always" work but "when unanswered" doesn't?

They are separate network services, and on some lines no-answer forwarding is switched off (that's what we saw on Cellcom). Ask the carrier to check and enable it, then dial the same code again.

What do I do when the screen shows a six-line error?

Try adding *11 before the hash: **61*0501234567*11#. That asks for forwarding of voice calls only. If that's rejected too, ask your carrier which forwarding conditions are enabled on your line.

Can I forward calls to a number abroad?

On Pelephone, according to its support page, calls can't be forwarded to a phone that is abroad. With other carriers, check with customer service.

How do I cancel?

On Pelephone, according to the official page, #61# cancels forwarding when unanswered. After cancelling, make a test call and confirm your line rings normally again.
